ROCK WHILE YOU SHOP

GlobeCast Australia’s Business Transmission services are being used to deliver customised radio to shoppers across Australia. GlobeCast Australia has over 25 Radio Channels already currently operating on its various platforms, and various Business TV services, along with its 120-plus Direct to Home Satellite TV services across Australia and New Zealand. From October 2009, it’s added two new radio broadcast channels - for one of the biggest retail groups operating in Australia, K-mart - which will play in approximately 180 stores across Australia. The content is created by Mood Media and K-mart (owned by the Coles group), supplying customers with product information, special offers and music, while they browse the aisles. As with Business TV Channels, the radio signal is broadcast via the Optus D2 satellite, and uplinked from GlobeCast Broadcast Centre at the MLC building, in Sydney CBD. GlobeCast Australia’s 24/7 Master Control and Teleport teams will provide full redundancy for the channels, with technicians who are constantly testing and observing.  Mood Media Australia – described as the leading developers of business radio in the region - won a contract to supply the channels for Kmart via GlobeCast Australia, bringing a fresh and vibrant approach to targeted business radio throughout Australia.

BANK TV TUNES IN
MORE Australian banks are turning to TV to communicate to their customers, although not in the traditional sense. While the National Australia and Commonwealth Banks have had their own internal TV stations for years, their rivals are now adopting similar strategies. GlobeCast Australia commercial manager John Graham said the broadcasting services business was now helping each of the four major banks broadcast to their customers. "Quite clearly it's become a discrete activity as the clients are corporate as opposed to our usual broadcast clients," he said. "We do business TV work for all four of the big banks. The models vary but they are now all using TV services in some shape or form." Apart from helping transmit the internal TV programs created by the NAB and CBA, Mr Graham said ANZ created a national broadcast of the
Budget speech and Westpac broadcast its last annual meeting.

GLOBECAST AUSTRALIA PROMOTES BRANDS
GlobeCast Australia’s international connectivity and expertise is being used more and more by major companies to spread their messages worldwide. In Melbourne during Formula One Week, GlobeCast Australia established a DSNG link and live camera on set for driver superstar Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton was beamed to the northern hemisphere live, to support his sponsor Tag Heuer at one of its most important marketing days of the year. From Australia, Tag Heuer projected the driver on to a big screen, live, at the World Watch and Jewellery Show in Basel, Switzerland. GlobeCast Australia established a two way video and audio feed, so Hamilton could be asked questions from Basel.  A keen advocate of Tag Heuer, Hamilton told show goers he has a Tag for every occasion - sport, fashion or leisure, function or style. To fit the occasion, Hamilton was on a special set created in fashionable Melbourne restaurant Bistro Guillaume at Crown Casino. The GlobeCast Australia live telecast fitted well with the Watch Show’s mantra to discover innovations and pinpoint new trends in an exclusive business atmosphere.

GLOBECAST AUSTRALIA HAS SURGICAL PRECISION
Our global distribution with surgical precision brought live broadcasts to the 2009 three day International Cardiac Specialists’ Convention in Cairns. A ground receive satellite dish and infrastructure at the Cairns Convention Centre moved pictures, including HD transmissions, on to the conference big screens. There were scheduled live surgeries from seven countries - and interactive questions and answers - over three days.  Surgeries were delivered via satellite from Berlin in Germany, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Kochi in India, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Seoul in South Korea, Okayama in Japan and Melbourne. “Forget powerpoint, this is yet another example of how cost effective Business TV is for various corporate clients and industries.  Put simply, the same technology that brings FOXTEL into many Australian homes, can be adapted to professional needs to create high impact communication,” according to GlobeCast Australia Commercial Manager John Graham.

THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD
Tourism Queensland's Best Job in The World truly did “Reach the World” with GlobeCast Australia as the exclusive satellite uplink distributer globally. GlobeCast Australia summarises the reach of the broadcast coverage as 100 interviews, live crosses and tape feeds to 10 countries in 3 days. There were live and tape unilateral needs for broadcasters from visiting countries including France, Singapore and Canada.
Australian broadcasters taking unilateral feeds and conducting lives included Australia’s Sky News Australia, SBS, 7, 9 and 10 Networks. Asia Pacific broadcasters were New Zealand’s TVNZ and TV3; Japan’s Fuji TV, Tokyo Broadcasting System and Nippon TV; and China’s CCTV. American broadcasters taking feeds and live interviews included CBS, ABC, FOX and CNN. In Europe, Germany’s ARD, N24 and RTL also took unilateral coverage; while in the UK both the BBC and ITV had bookings. Many other countries took footage from a daily international Video News Release, including Korea, Israel, Oman, Switzerland, Russia, Turkey and Poland.

GOLD, DOLLARS AND SENSE
GlobeCast Australia works with all four of the Big Four Australian Banks, and also many major companies including Lihir Gold.  Clients needs range from full time channels, to scheduled programs to coverage of events such as annual general meetings. In 2009, more companies are choosing these technical solutions as a cheaper and highly effective alternative to road shows or national conferences. Lihir conducted its Annual General Meeting in Papua New Guinea, with GlobeCast Australia and Thomson Reuters distributing it as a webcast available to shareholders internationally, who could also phone and email questions. Dr Ross Garnaut, Chairman, Lihir Gold said: “Welcome to many shareholders on every continent - except perhaps Antarctica - who have the opportunity to join with us today through electronic means. This is the first time we and perhaps any company has followed this process for an annual general meeting to allow direct involvement in the proceedings by shareholders everywhere.”

MULTI CITY LIVE EVENTS
Fresh from the successful Lihir broadcast, the GlobeCast Australia team deployed to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth for a 5-City Live Satellite Hook Up for Top Four Bank ANZ’s Budget Night Dinner and Analysis, at major hotels. ANZ CEO Brian Hartzer noted it was “cutting edge” to be live via satellite to key ANZ clients at dinners in five cities. All feeds were monitored by GlobeCast Australia’s 24/7/365 Master Control and Teleport.  They’re practised eyes and ears.  In 2008, the facility moved more than one million hours of content. GlobeCast Australia is known for its broadcast clients internationally, including all major terrestrial networks globally and leading pay television companies such as BskyB, FOXTEL and Sky New Zealand. GlobeCast Australia moves more than 120 channels in and out of Australia, in addition to its ad hoc satellite and fibre bookings for sport and news.
