GlobeCast Australia has announced that GlobeCam - a specialist provider of live, miniature camera technology in the world today - has conducted successful trials of 3D coverage for V8 Supercars Television. V8 Supercars is believed to be the first motor racing body in the world to run 3D cameras inside a race car, after the trials in Darwin last weekend. The trials were recorded and were not transmitted as part of the live television coverage.

EXPERIENCE

Macau GP winner Edoardo Mortara

Our GlobeCam staff are at the forefront of this bespoke and now ubiquitous production technique, and two bring almost 20 years’ experience each in equipping and operating miniature cameras. The staff of GlobeCam are highly skilled technical engineers with lifetime careers in the broadcast industry, and a reputation for delivering in high risk, often rough, environments. Each has developed close relationships with the sporting bodies, along with the drivers, riders and pilots who allow them access to their cars, bikes and aircraft. Their experience combines with the technical engineering prowess of the GlobeCast Australia Teleport, Master Control and DSNG (digital satellite) teams, to provide our clients with end to end solutions.

DEVELOPMENT

Operating in the digital RF links environment, in 2011 and 2012 GlobeCast Australia and its clients will support GlobeCam to research and develop new applications for existing events and explore innovations for new clients. The GlobeCam team understands the key issues for sporting bodies and production companies: the size, weight and heat of their equipment, along with the stability and reliability of their pictures.

Across the media industry, GlobeCast Australia has been instrumental in the implementation of new technologies including electronics such as microwave and digital linking; satellite, cable and fibre services. Now, GlobeCam specialises in rigging cameras and transmitters, and in setting up receive equipment, efficiently, effectively and economically.

INNOVATION

A key GlobeCam contract is with V8 Supercars Television. This builds on a contract commenced in early 2007, when GlobeCast Australia took on digital up-linking and satellite distribution of all V8 events until December 2012. This increased activity not only builds on our existing relationship with V8 Supercars, but also builds on GlobeCast Australia’s innovative prowess in linking and supply solutions worldwide.

RELATIONSHIPS

Apart from our own nous, we have close relationships with some of the leading international companies producing and marketing cutting edge technological solutions for live, onboard applications. This will allow the various team members to cover a wide range of sports and events, as already mentioned, and others including sailing and cricket. While high speed sport is a natural application, each of the GlobeCam staff have had career experiences in various adaptations of the technology, ranging from major events such as the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games, through to natural history documentaries, drama production, and even live coverage of a royal wedding in Brunei. We regard our clients as partners. No challenge is too big for our small cameras and links. We have the skill, the attitude, the relationships and technical capability ... the right dynamic. Which is why GlobeCam is now an integral part of GlobeCast Australia, helping to drive worldwide supply solutions.
