WE’RE BIG ON THE BIG SCREEN

In 2010, GlobeCast Australia is once again beaming The Wiggles Christmas Show live to cinemas across Australia and New Zealand. This follows the successful transmission in November of the Dame Joan Sutherland Memorial from the Sydney Opera House to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and cinemas nationally. GlobeCast Australia is leading global delivery of major events, live on to cinema screens. Key broadcasts recently have included a diverse range of entertainment, from opera to ballet. In May 2010, we launched the premiere of the new Disney feature film Prince of Persia, live from London to Sydney and on to Greater Union’s George Street big screen for a VIP audience.

In March 2010, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation enlisted GlobeCast Australia services to broadcast “Bliss” live from the Sydney Opera House on to ABC2 TV and then live to regional cinemas as far afield as Devonport in Tasmania and Hervey Bay in Queensland. In October 2009, a similar Opera Australia project involved broadcasting the production of “Cosi Fan Tutte”. Also in late 2009, Andre Rieu’s spectacular Sydney concert broadcast to more than 50 cinemas nationally and internationally – from Albany in WA to as far afield as the Netherlands! These broadcasts follow previous success with the ballet “Firebirds and other legends” earlier in 2009, and La Boheme in 2008.

The digital multi-channelling developments which spawned ABC2 as one of the country’s first new and free digital TV channels, have also led to the ability to transmit to cinemas and open air big screens, thanks to GlobeCast Australia’s infrastructure, satellite capacity and know how. And in December 2010, GlobeCast Australia is once again entrusted with broadcasting The Wiggles Christmas Show live nationally to eager pre-schoolers in dozens of remote cinemas, after the huge success of the inaugural transmission in 2008 and an encore delivery in 2009. Such repeat custom is due to high service levels and cutting edge technology. GlobeCast Australia operates the country’s largest fleet of DSNG units, coupled with an enviable global network of fibre and satellite, supported by 24/7 Master Control and Teleport support.
