POLITICAL EVENTS BROADCAST GLOBALLY

After a proud record of host broadcast support for major Government events such as CHOGM and APEC, GlobeCast Australia was appointed by the Australian Government as Satellite Services provider for last year’s Pacific Islands Forum. Key politicians and media from more than a dozen Pacific nations attended the forum in Cairns in August. GlobeCast Australia was the exclusive provider for satellite uplink and distribution. Clients included all Australian networks, Sky News Australia, New Zealand’s TV3 and TVNZ, and Media Niugini. Coverage was also distributed across the region on the Australia Network news bulletins. The Forum’s membership has increased from the original seven founding members (Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Nauru, New Zealand, Tonga and Samoa) to also include the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Niue, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, New Caledonia and French Polynesia. Current Forum Observers include the Commonwealth (2006) and the Asia Development Bank (2006). Fiji was suspended earlier in 2009. GlobeCast was also the Government appointed Host Broadcaster of APEC in Sydney in 2007, and has had a long and successful history with CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) both within Australia and globally for more than a decade.
