Reburial of the 250th Australian Soldier at Fromelles France

GlobeCast Australia broadcast Australian military history as Prince Charles and the Australian Governor-General, Quentin Bryce, dedicated a new Commonwealth cemetery to the lost Diggers of Fromelles in France. The last of the 250 soldiers, found in a German-dug mass grave, was farewelled with full military honours and buried in his final resting place beside his mates. The Diggers, most hardly more than boys, died on the night of June 19, 1916, on farmland just north of the tiny town. It was the worst night in Australian military history. Fromelles mayor Hubert Huchette says the town holds a special place in its heart for Australia: "In 1916, the Australian soldiers were on the frontline," he said. "In 2010, Australians, French people, British people, the young ones as well as the older ones, are gathered together on the frontline to honour them." GlobeCast Australia used its global booking and delivery resources to arrange downlink and delivery of the memorium transmission for Australia’s Seven Network and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
