GlobeCast Australia to Participate in third Optus D-series Satellite for Australia and NZ
GlobecastGlobeCast Australia expanded its services to include a third Optus D-series satellite servicing Australia and New Zealand.
Optus announced its plans for the new satellite in March 2007 and said it would increase Optus’ satellite fleet capacity by more than 30%. GlobeCast participated in the new D-series satellite with FOXTEL, Australia’s leading subscription television provider which also uses the Optus satellite fleet.
The Optus D3 satellite is scheduled for delivery in 2009. Optus launched the first D-series satellite in October 2006. D2 was launched in late 2007.
The Optus D-series satellites deliver direct-to-home television, high definition television, broadband and VSAT services. The Head of Optus Satellite, Paul Sheridan, said that with the plans for D3, Optus was positioned to grow opportunities for the ethnic services broadcast sector and provide additional in-orbit redundancy for customers out to the year 2020 and beyond.


GlobeCast Australia Renews Broadcast Relationship with Australian Christian Channel
GlobeCast Australia has renewed its long-standing relationship with Australia’s 24-hour Australian Christian Channel (ACC) to broadcast the service nationwide on the Optus C1 satellite.
ACC is integrated via GlobeCast Australia into the Foxtel platform that uses C1 for its satellite distribution. Foxtel is Australia’s largest subscription television provider and uses both satellite and cable distribution.
ACC is available to approximately 2 million pay TV homes through Foxtel and other platforms including Austar, Optus, Transact, and Neighborhood Cable.
ACC’s General Manager Neil Elliott said: “In the early days broadcasting was a new venture for us. The GlobeCast team came alongside us with their wealth of experience and expertise to turn the dream into reality in a very prompt and cost efficient manner. Since those early days an excellent working relationship has continued to develop and GlobeCast has become a most valued and trusted partner to our business.”

GlobeCast Australia Broadcasts National Indigenous Television (NITV)
GlobeCast Australia has joined forces with National Indigenous Television (NITV) to broadcast the service across Australia on the Optus C1 satellite. NITV is Australia’s first 24 hour Indigenous television service.
NITV broadcasts Arts, Children’s programs, Culture and Music, Film, Documentaries, Drama, Education, Language, News, Sport & Current Affairs, Comedy as well as Special Events.
Australia’s Communications Minister Helen Coonan said at the launch of NITV that the new service would grow and “is expected to lead to ventures and programming with community television, pay television, SBS and the ABC.”
The Australian Government is providing $50 million over four years from 2006-07 as part of the Backing Indigenous Ability suite of measures, to develop NITV.
Professor Larissa Behrendt, Chairperson of NITV, said: “NITV’s main objective is to broadcast material which reflects the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders around the country.
“We are looking at every possible opportunity to expand our reach and are continuing negotiations with pay TV providers and digital platforms to bring our programs into the home of every Australian.”

GlobeCast Australia Launches New International Channels to Australasia
GlobeCast Australia recently launched multiple channels into Australia and NZ on the recently launched Optus D2 DTH satellite platform.
Vision Asia the premium Indian bouquet added 3 new channels, Star One, Star Gold and MTV to its package in the new-year. The Vision Asia bouquet offers the best of Indian drama, Bollywood movies and music and 24 hour news.
Polsat 2 offering the best Polish entertainment: popular TV series with the best Polish actors and concerts with celebrities. Polsat 2’s program offer includes most recent information with a daily journalistic and interventionist program.
NHK World TV - the international channel in English language from Japan’s public broadcaster was launched in February 2008. The channel is targeted to overseas audience with a good selection of programs.
